Coaches

[edit]

Player/coach bios. Anyone writing them?

And btw, I've heard the Vince Leah version for the past 50 years. It is,for example, mentioned on the back cover of Leah's book "A History of the Blue Bombers". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.161.219.114 (talk) 16:38, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

New Stadium

[edit]

Although it was brought up in 2004, they're restarting the idea again. Apparently, it could be located near the Red River Exhibition Park, on one of their adjacent lands. But the costs are rath pricey. The proposed new stadium will include a hotel (sponsored by Canad Inns), water park (... Why?), alot more seats, and a bunch of other goodies as well. It will still have an open roof, but it will be higher up and kind of caving inwards almost (if you've seen the proposed pictures). I think it looks rather nifty. In the trivia section, I'm not sure the team was named the way it is said. What I have learned is that the team was originally called the Winnipeg Blues. The team was in financial difficulties and was purchased by a former student of Sarnia Collegiate Institute and Technical School (SCITS highschool) in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada. Wanting to put his own personal touch on the team he renamed them the Blue Bombers after his highschool team: the SCITS Blue Bombers.

First I've heard about this, whereas I've heard the Vince Leah story several times, including in the official Bomber's 75 year history book. I tend to side with Bomber historians on this ;) but if you have any sources (other than "what I have learned"), feel free to add them to the talk page to see if it merits adding. --Canuckguy 22:29, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Move to Investors Group Field

[edit]

Although the official line still is that the Bombers are planning to move to Investors Group Field for the start of the 2012, there is word that the stadium probably won't be ready on time. If there is sourced information that supports this, the Bomber's stadium info should be updated. User:rkehler3 06:30, 21 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I did a cursory edit of the Stadium section, changing the plans for IG Field to past tense, adding that David Asper was removed from the project, and listing the Bombers' home opener and score. Jeff-El (talk) 21:27, 1 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

needs more info on ownership structure

[edit]

Can anyone provide more information on the exact structure of the Blue Bombers' ownership? Saying they are "community-owned" or "fan-owned" really doesn't explain it. Are shares in the club sold to the public, like the Saskatchewan Roughriders? Or are the Bombers owned by the city of Winnipeg itself, like the Burlington Bees baseball team (owned by the city)?
